The Seaweed Speakeasy:

Join us on Friday, November 3rd from 4-8 pm at the new Marine Conservation and Technology Facility at Scripps Institution of Oceanography to enjoy an evening celebrating all things seaweed! From a seaweed science showcase to delectable seaweed dishes prepared by some of the best local chefs, to seaweed inspired cocktails and mocktails designed by local mixologists, seaweed art from local artists, silent auction, and even a specially commissioned live performance - the night will be one to remember! Limited admission is available so get your tickets early! Cost of admission includes all this and more!

Students who present a poster of their research can attend the event for FREE. Submit your abstract here to reserve a spot.

TRANSPORTATION

Parking is extremely limited on Scripps Institution of Oceanography/UC San Diego campus.We strongly encourage use of: public transportation (MTS 30 bus); taxi or rideshare; or carpooling.

Please enjoy alcohol responsibly. We encourage attendees who plan to drink to either leave the car at home or have a designated driver.

PARKING

If you do plan to drive - you can purchase a Visitor permit for campus parking.

  • Visitor permits are valid in any “V” or “D” marked spot 24/7, and after 4pm Visitor permits are also valid in “S,” “A,” or “B” spots.

  • Parking costs $4.20/hour before 5pm, $2.10/hour after 5pm.

How to Pay for Visitor Parking

A. ParkMobile App - UC San Diego’s most convenient way to pay for parking!

Before the event: Download the ParkMobile app from the App Store or Google Play and complete your registration (payment method, license plate) to make parking a breeze.

  1. Once registered, select “P, Park” on the bottom of the screen

  2. Enter zone number 4726.

  3. Choose your parking duration (varies by location).

  4. Confirm your information, including location, license plate, time and cost.

  5. A ticker will be displayed counting down your time remaining. You can extend your session remotely.

B. Pay Stations

Physical pay stations are located in lots P014, P002, and P003.

  • Visitor (V) permits can be purchased at pay stations with Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.

  • When asked if you have a 'Department Code' select '2) No' and continue with payment.

  • Since you entered your license plate you do not need to display the permit.
