A Heartfelt Thank You from the Festival Organizing Committee!
We extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who participated in and contributed to the success of the 5th annual California Seaweed Festival 2024 around Humboldt Bay! It was a wonderful weekend celebrating the seaweeds with you.
A special thank you to our dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors—your support made this festival possible!
In 2024’s festival….
Our panelists and speakers did an outstanding job. The festival provided a valuable platform to discuss various perspectives on macroalgal biodiversity, innovations in aquaculture, environmental justice, and the role of macroalgae in medicine. We highlighted important restoration efforts and the significance of serving our coastal Native communities. We learned and shared and engaged in building connections with a whole community of folks interested in seaweeds and coastal ecosystems.
The seaweed-forward food and drinks were delightful, the music was uplifting, and the vendor area was rich with inspired work! The workshops were exceptional! Tours of Humboldt Bay, whether by boat, tidepooling, or dock-pooling, showcased the stunning biodiversity of this remarkable region.
Thank you for joining us in sharing, educating, and celebrating our connection to this vibrant community! We hope you took some of the festival home with you, in your mind, your belly or your shopping bag. You can always visit the 4 new kelp forest murals painted in Eureka during the festival!
Humboldt, we could not have had a better time! We truly celebrated the beauty of this ancestral Wiyot land, a place known as a resting place by the Wiyot people.
